I received the following email and this picture from Jim Myers -  This was a 40 inch pike.

On the last day of our Davin fishing expeditation Nancy and Jack fished a particular spot in the morning.  That afternoon JT and I fished roughly the same area.  After rain, hail and a plow wind we caught a jig and a pike.  That morning Nancy lost a similar jig to a large fish.  We don't know if the jig is the same one or if the same fish ran off with it.

Montie caught a 27 inch walleye on June 30th while out and about with the pontoon boat.  Congratulations to both of you for the great catch.

I have had the pleasure of having my family with me for the past 10 days.  It so happened that my beautiful daughter-in-law was able to land a 32 inch pike - she out fished the boys that day - can't you tell by the smile?
The Texas team of Jt, Jim and Don caught the most amount of trophy pike to date and they claim that the trophy pike are gaining about 2 inches per year.  Proof that the catch and release program is working.
Walleye fishing has been excellent with a great number of trophys' caught and released.
Wathaman Lake is 2 feet above average making fishing more challenging than normal.  Pike and Walleye are not in the usual places.  Guests have had to fish in different spots with limited success.
Fishing at Davin has been excellent with the water levels just above average.
Trout have gone down as only small trout are being caught on the surface. 
As the weather gets hotter, the trophy pike fishing is gaining speed everyday.

Well, the first group of guests have all left happy, fishing far exceeded all expectations.  Walleye fishing super with a large number of trophy walleye caught and released.  Bob and Manny caught a 29 inch walleye and a couple of 27 inch walleye.  They caught and released 84 walleye, total.
The Englefeld team had a great time catching walleye, the largest 27 1/2 inches and weighed 8.9 lbs.
The trout are starting to go down.   Pike fishing is good with a great many trophy pike being seen but not many caught as of yet.
The  Schupp group at Wathaman are having great success with Pike and Walleye.  Haven't got a report today but as of yesterday they had caught and released a 37 inch Pike.  Fishing is super at Wathaman too.
It has been raining for the last three days.  It is very cool tonight approx 2C.  The weather is changing again.  Water temp is running about 55F.  Water level is above average.  We expect the pike to start moving into the shallows tomorrow.
I tired to upload pictures but the computer is so slow that it just won't work.  Will try again.

We moved in on Sunday May 27th.  The road was absolutely terrible but it has improved over the last week, thank goodness.  The graders have been out everyday since we got here and the last guests to arrive say it is pretty fair now. 
We have been busy opening up camp and have everything pretty much done and are ready to go.  No bears at Wathaman this year, another blessing.  Everything over there is in great shape.  We have made quite a few improvements this year, at Wathaman, with a new walkway and a dock on the outpost side.
The first guests have arrived and the fishing is tremendous.  Everyone is concentrating on trout and walleye and both species are biting very well.  These guests are going to strart to attack the pike tomorrow.  Watch for up coming news flashes.
For those interested, the pickled pike is pickling, the little pies are baking and the trout has been smoked.

Our first trip to Davin 2012 - We rolled in today, May 9th at approx 5:00pm.  The road was rough in spots due to frost coming out.  We brought in a dock for Wathaman which we will take over later.  There are 3 bad washouts on our road coming into camp so road construction will begin when we move up later in the month. 
 When we pulled into camp, we shut off the security cameras, it is unbelievable what you can capture on a  camera - lost hunters, moose, wolves and some wicked storms.   It is nice to know that people can't come into camp without us knowing about it.
Nothing has been touched all winter, it is just like we left it.  We always worry about things like that but got lucky again.
Looks like ice out will be real soon.  Irvin predicts completely gone within the week.  He is hoping for a north wind to blow the ice away from the dock.
The water level is a touch below normal but usually comes up when the ice goes out.
I have attached some pictures I took tonight.
Not much else to report.  We will be returing home tomorrow to get the crop in, finish shopping for the camp and pack to come back.  We will be moving in on the 27th to begin the season.

I was standing on the dock where the ice has receeded, it is amazing how many trout and whitefish I saw swimming around.  And they look way bigger than last year!!!!

Spring has arrived and Irvin is home from winters work, now it is time to think about Davin Lake.  Of course Davin is always on our mind.  As it stands right now our bookings are much better than last year, it looks like a pretty fair season. 
We plan on making a trip to Davin within the next 10 days.  Reports are that a huge amount of snow has fallen over the past month, I guess we will see.  The temperature has been above normal so maybe spring is close to Davin as well!
Anyone interested in fishing at Davin or Wathaman need to call and check out our availability.  We do have a few holes but as mentioned, we have a busy season coming.
