It was mid afternoon on Friday August 5th when we heard a plane. Wayne Strader in the lead with his blue and white Cessna landed at Davin Lake, with Jonathan Ratcliffe next and bringing up the rear was Arthur Earsom with his yellow Maule. They had flew all the way from Oklahoma. There was a total of 7 fishermen. These customer have made many trips to Davin Lake. They have become more like family than customers and we have always looked forward to their arrival. They like to come in August, that seems to suit their schedule.
Fishing was great, as usual, other than the walleye being a bit weak. They caught and released a large number of trophy pike as well as a large number of lake trout. They also released 4 trophy walleye.
They are already making plans for next year. An additional 5 planes for a total of eight for 2017.
A day after the Oklahoma fishermen left, the walleye fishing picked right up. Les Wallington and his family went to the Davin River and caught and released over 70 walleye. WOW congrats Les. But that's walleye fishing!!!
